About Midwestern Compounding Pharmacy

Midwestern Compounding Pharmacy was started in 2007 when we moved Plain City Druggist from downtown into our new building across from Der Dutchman restaurant on Route 42. We had always compounded through Plain City Druggist, but decided after the move to make the compounding its own separate business. Our compounding lab in the new building, located in Suite 200 at 480 South Jefferson Avenue, became Midwestern Compounding Pharmacy.

We are members of PCCA, Professional Compounding Centers of America, and can call on them and their team of pharmacist experts if we ever have questions about a compound.

What we can do:

Compounding involves making medications that are for your specific needs. The medications do not come from a manufacturer. Rather, we purchase the ingredients and make the medicine ourselves. These medicines can be compounded as capsules, creams, suppositories, solutions, suspensions, or just about any other form that you would normally use to get a drug in to your system. We can also flavor medicine to make it taste better so a child or a pet will easily take it.

Compounded medicines DO require a prescription from your doctor, who we are happy to work with to allow you to get the medication that best suits you!

We compound medications for (but not limited to):

  • Veterinary use - we can flavor suspensions and solutions in tuna, liver, or chicken bases so your pets will not mind their medicines so much. We can also make pastes that you apply to the ear if your pet won't let you give them a pill or liquid. We can change a pill into a liquid if that is easier for you to give. Just ask us.
  • Dental use
  • Dermatological needs
  • Pediatrics - we can flavor medications for children in a variety of yummy tastes--grape, cherry--virtually any flavor they enjoy. We can also make medicines in strengths more suitable for smaller patients.
  • Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy - we can do an easy saliva test when you stop in for a consult to see where your hormone levels are. Then, working with your physician, we can plan a course of action that is best for you. We provide comprehensive one-on-one counseling sessions with a pharmacist to discuss medical history, symptoms, and the right hormones for you. Hormone replacement therapy is for both men and women.

We can compound just about any medication you may need, unless it must be sterile. We do not have the ability to produce sterile items at this time.
